The shooting of "Scart" will be set in the London underground, for legal reasons we are only allowed access with basic hand-held equipment however still need to record high quality, versatile HD footage.
To capture the shots we require for the production of the film we will be using Canon 5Dmkii SLR cameras.
We have found there a numerous advantages filming with these cameras, the 5D has a full frame sensors to allow for a larger field of view with each lens than any other production SLR at the moment. The size of the camera makes it very portable and discreet, this benefit gives us the ability to film almost anywhere without long set-up periods. 1080P recording at 25fps will be sufficient to allow us to work with the footage.
the ability to change to multiple lenses and allow us to film in lower light conditions or produce more aesthetic DOF shots. The greatest advantage of this camera is the full manual control over the video. From numerous test shoots we have developed a series of settings to allow the camera to film the most versatile footage.
low apertures, low ISO, high shutter speeds and manual focusing.
There are some big drawbacks of using such high end SLR cameras for video.
as it has a large full frame sensor, the camera is more susceptible to moire patterning, a problem caused by some patterns which cannot be broadcast as it can affect certain medical conditions.
